Vouchers and discounts at publishers 2023 at MU

MU has concluded contracts with selected publishers through the National Center for e-resources the CzechELib.

Currently, two groups of publishers could be used for free APC at MU:

Unlimited using free APC (all publications that meet the criteria below are eligible for a free APC)

Publishers: ACM DL, Cambridge University Press, Karger, Oxford, University Press, Royal Soc Chemistry
Conditions: corresponding authors have the affiliation of Masaryk University
Process: the Publisher will recognize the MU's affiliation automatically based on the institutional email address of the corresponding author and will offer free OA during the publication process

Limited number of tokens (= free APC) for MU

Publishers: American Chem Soc (for MU 17 tokens), Springer (45), Taylor and Francis (20), Wiley (45), De Gruyter (2), Emerald (2)
Process: the Publisher will recognize the MU's affiliation based on the corresponding author's email address and request approval from the MU authority (officer in charge at rectorate) for using a token. MU will approve the token under the conditions:
the journal is in a quartile Q1, or Q2 of the WoS assessed through the Article Influence Score
MU tokens are still available - the MU principle is "First come, first served"
the APC is not covered by other sources, e.g. from a grant

Please remember that:

authors always have to use the institutional email address (muni.cz) when communicating with the publisher to be recognized through their affiliation for a token assignment (if one exists).
the number of tokens at some publishers is limited or none, so always plan adequately for APC fees in your projects
also, the other Czech and abroad institutions can have similar possibilities for using free APC. If you are not a corresponding author, you can point out the corresponding author for this.
